                  Baby Boots - Bunny Ears


Sizes: Birth to 3 months Sole measures 3 1/2" long

Materials: 1 ball of bedspread cotton (white only) or Ciats and Clark
Knit-Cro Sheen (white and colors) for bootie. 1 ball Coats and Clark
pearl cotton #5 in contrasting color for trim. Steel crochet hook
#5 or english hook # 2 1/2 (or size that will give you the correct
guage.

Gauge: 9 DC = 1 inch

** NOTE: Bunny Ears Pattern follows General Directions ***

GENERAL DIRECTIONS

SOLE: Starting at center with main color ch 22 to measure 2 1/2".

1st RND (right side): Work 7 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next
17 ch, work 8 dc in last ch, working along opposite edge of
starting chain, work dc in next 17 ch, join with sl st in 3rd ch
of starting ch.

2cd RND: ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, work 2 dc in each of next
7 dc (heel), dc om mext 3 dc, h dc in next dc, sc in next 2 dc, h dc
in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, tr in next 6 dc, 2 tr in each of next
10 dc (toe), tr in next 6 dc, dc in next 3 dc, h dc in next dc, sc in
next 2 dc, h dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, join.

Completed sole should measure 3 1/2 inches.

HEEL and INSTEP:
1st RND: Ch 3, working around heel, dc in back loop of next 22 sts,
with safety pin mark last dc made, dc in back lp of remaining
sts around sole. Join (68 dc, counting starting ch 3 as 1 dc; ridge
formed around sole. Break off.


HEEL:

1st ROW: With wrong side facing you attach main color to marked dc,
ch 3 (work thru both lps of each st from now on unless otherwise noted),
working around heel, dc in next 27 dc, ch 4 turn.


2cd ROW: Skip 1st dc, dc in next dc (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc)
13 times (14 spaces around heel). Break off.

3rd ROW: With right side facing you, attach thread in first space om
last row, ch 3 sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), sc in same
sp, (make p, sc in next sp) 13 times; p, sc in same sp (15 p). Break off.

To DEC 1 DC: * Yo hook, insert hook in next st and draw up lp, yo, draw
through 2 lps on hook. Repeat from * once more, yo, draw through all
3 lps on hook.

To DEC 2 DC: * Yo, insert hook in the next st and draw up lp, yo, draw
through 2 lps on hook, repeat from * twice more; yo, draw through
all 4 lops

To DEC 1 SC: Work in the unworked lp of each of next 2 sts, yo, draw through
all 3 lps on hook.

SOLE TRIM: Work in the unworked lp of each st on 2nd rnd of sole as follows:
With instep facing you, attach contrasting thread to a st and work sc in
each st around, join. Break off.

TIES: With contrasting thread, ch 120. Break off; tie a knot at each end
of chain. Weave chain through spaces around heel.

 END OF GENERAL DIRECTIONS


BUNNY EARS:

You will need 1 yard of embroidery floss to embroider bunnies eyes.

SOLE: See General Directions

HEEL AND INSTEP: See General Directions.

HEEL: See General Directions

INSTEP: Work as for instep on FRENCH KNOTS booties (see C-BOOT-2.ZIP).
Working with one color throughout.

SOLE TRIM: See General Directions.

BUNNY EARS:  Make 2 main color and 2 contrasting color.
Starting at center ch 10, sc in 2cd ch from hook, dc in next 7 ch, 5 dc
in last st, working along opposite edge of chain dc in next 7 sts,
sc in last st, join. Break off. Sew pairs of 2 colored ears together. Sew
ears in place on instep.

TAIL: With B, ch 4; join with sl st to form ring.
TAIL - 1st RND: Ch 3, work 10 dc in ring, join.
TAIL - 2cd RND: Ch 2, h dc in each st around; join.
TAIL - 3rd RND: Dec 1 sc 5 times. Break Off. Sew to back of bootie.

TIES: See General Directions.

Embroidery: Following GIF for placement embroider eyes in cotton st with
floss in contrasting color, embroider nose in French Knots and whiskers
in straight stitches.
